Grund bath mats collection
 
THE BRIEFING The aim of Czech bath rug manufacturer Grund was to develop a design statement and a new signature to establish the company in a youthful target group in home stores and modern furniture retail.
 
THE DESIGN The first order of the day was to create a modern colour pool as a basis for the new Basic series, a major turnover driver for the company, in a variety of visual designs and qualities. After that, the project set out to develop inspiring collection themes in varied styles and high-quality techniques to make their début at the Heimtextil trade fair in Frankfurt in 2015.
 
“Establishing design with a modern style in a foreign culture is a unique challenge, and one I’m happy to accept – such as here in a small Czech village at the foot of the Bohemian Mountains; it was also an important personal project for me to bring out the excellent rug-making skills at GRUND in a modern look. I take great pleasure in contributing to the preservation of this small regional manufacturing company.”
